Denver Rock Island Railroad

Welcome

The Denver Rock Island Railroad is a short line railroad switching carrier that was started in 1993 and is privately owned and operated. The DRIR consists of three yards North Washington Park, Stockyards, and Airlawn. The railroad interchanges rail cars from both the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern. Located in Commerce City Colorado. The DRIR has many trans loading sights that are privately owned and operated. Mars Steel Corporation is one of the operators that trans loads on a 30 acre site with spaces available. The Denver Rock Island Railroad and Mars Steel have a secure area for its operations, with switching available thru out the day. Because The Denver Rock Island Railroad is located in an industeral area, anyone can get rail service easily.

Going Green:

Freight Railroads are very fuel efficient, and better for the environment.
A freight train hauls one ton of freight an average of 457 miles on one gallon of fuel- more than three times farther than trucks.

A study finds that freight rail gallons of fuel is about 3 times less than trucking Coast to Coast:
Trucks will use 27 Gallons of fuel per ton.
Trains will just 7 Gallons of fuel per ton.

(AAR Estimate based on U.S. DOT Data)

Because a freight rail train can do the work of 280 or more than trucks, Railroads reduce the highway gridlock.
